One way to motivate yourself is to clearly outline a goal for your new fitness program. A goal is a wonderful tool as you are concentrating on achieving it rather than focusing on any obstacles in your way to getting there. Setting weight loss goals helps you remember that weight loss is a process, and you also provide yourself with interim deadlines that break up the process and make it seem easier.

You can build bigger biceps by bending your wrists slightly when you are doing arm curls with dumbbells. When your doing your arm curls, extend the wrists backwards slightly, and hold them like that. This slight change of movement will make your biceps work harder, thus, building bigger biceps.

The trapezius muscles are easily one of the most neglected body parts when it comes to exercise. To exercise them, simply hold a dumb bell in each hand, and lift your shoulders. Then lower them slowly. The trapezius muscles are an important part of upper body and back strength.

To workout your forearm muscles, try using forearm grips. Forearm grips use a spring for resistance. You simply squeeze them and release them to exercise the forearm muscles. Initially, it may be hard to squeeze the grips, but as time goes on, you should be able to squeeze the grips further than before.

If you are new to fitness or have been away from the world of fitness for an extended period of time, consider hiring a personal trainer to show you the ropes. Even a few sessions with a qualified trainer can teach you the basics and show you how to workout without hurting yourself.

You can easily improve the quality and effectiveness of shoulder presses by concentrating on only one arm at a time. Perform two or three sets of ten reps with your left arm, then switch and do the same with your right arm. Even when you are using only one arm, your body is sending messages to stimulate the muscle fibers in the other arm.

As you prepare for a strength training workout, skip the pre-workout warmup on the treadmill. Instead, increase the efficiency of your workout by spending those fifteen minutes warming up the targeted muscle groups that you will be working on during your session. You can then spend those fifteen minutes on the treadmill, after you complete your routine.

Test the flexibility of your hip flexors by keeping your heels flat on the ground while you do your squats. If this cannot be done, they are much too tight. Try stretching them by holding onto a squat rack and lowering your body until it is nearly parallel to the ground; hold this for 30 seconds. Go back up and repeat at least 5 times.
